Part of living in the Pacific Northwest is that if you go look at the right time of year in the tiniest of waters, even in your rural neighborhood, you might find these beasts. It’s bizarre and exhilarating and I’ll never get used to it. Everyone knows salmon populations are decimated in most places. These two kings are approaching the end of their lives very quickly, but seeing them so far up in the system is encouraging that life is trying to hold on.
